Cc protein macrophage activating factor: the name is a mouthful, but this compound is worth knowing about! Macrophages are a part of the innate immune system. Together with other cells of the immune system, they fight invaders such as bacteria and cancer cells. They are activated by GcMAF, produced naturally in the body. However, cancer cells and certain viruses cause an enzyme called nagalase, which prevents the production of GcMAF in the body. The result is that macrophages aren’t activated and the immune system’s function is hampered. Therefore, the body isn’t able to effectively fight the cancer or the infection.
GcMAF has been shown to inhibit growth of pancreatic tumors, via its anti-angiogenic properties, i.e. its reduction of their blood supply. It has also been shown to inhibit prostate tumor cell growth.
Studies and clinical experience have shown that injections of GcMAF can activate the macrophages and be of benefit in diseases such as: cancer, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, Lyme disease, herpes simplex, autism, et al.
